Standing near the door
waiting her dreams fading as
petals fall like tears.
Wow, your haikus are always so lovely. I can’t do haikus at all so I’m even more in awe 🙂
Thank you, that’s so nice of you to say ❤ I'd thought about doing a Tanka but I'll stick to Haiku's.
I’ll be honest, I don’t know what a tanka is 😮
Sorry, a Tanka is basically a longer and older version of a Haiku. the Tanka dates back to about 1200 and is a poem that is usually based on a strong emotion. It has five lines and 31 syllables. Where a haiku has three lines and you are working with only 17 syllables. LOL now you probably know more about classical Japanese poetry than you wanted to! 🙂
Thank you 🙂 Actually I love learning so I’m happy to finally understand the basic formula of a haiku and a Tanka. Still not sure I could write one though, I like writing poetry but I always seem to gravitate towards rhyming, lol
There is nothing wrong with that at all. 🙂
Nice work. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words
Thank you, I’ve always liked this form of poetry.
