Crystal Thursday – Malachite

Good morning Crystal Lovers it’s Crystal Thursday and we are taking a look at Malachite, a copper based mineral found all over the world. Mining is done in countries such as Russia, Africa, France England, Mexico and here in the US.

Before we get too far into our conversation about Malachite I would like to mention that because of the copper content in this beautiful multi-shaded green mineral it is toxic and care must be taken if handling it in raw form. Prolonged contact with the high copper content, whether handling or breathing in the dust can have an adverse affect on red blood cell formation. If you are working with raw Malachite I suggest wearing a mask and washing you hands well after if you don’t wear gloves. Once tumbled or polished the risk is pretty much resolved.

From what I’ve been able to discover about the first find it was a very long time ago. Approximately 10,000 years ago it is said to have been discovered in the Shanidar Valley of Northern Iraq. The mining and use of Malachite has been going on for around 6000 years for jewelry, statuary and for architectural use making this one of the oldest semi precious stones in use today.

The Chakras Malachite resonate with begin at the Heart and work down to the Root Chakra. Malachite is known as a warrior stone because it increases courage, increases self confidence and personal power then gives you the courage to follow your heart.

Let’s take a look at some of the metaphysical qualities Malachite has to offer when working with it.

  • It is said to absorb negativity from your aura leaving you feel stronger and more confident.
  • Helps you work through issues to bring a balance to your emotions.
  • As a talisman of personal protection it helps keep people from draining your personal energy.
  • It helps detox your liver and kidneys.
  • It helps lower blood pressure and support good blood circulation.
  • The copper content in Malachite can help reduce pain in joints.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief look at Malachite. If its qualities resonate with you I encourage you to purchase a piece and work with it. Keep in mind I am not a doctor and sharing healing qualities of this stone or any crystal or mineral is in no way giving medical advice. Working with it can help but if you are ill see your medical practitioner of choice.

Weekly Tarot Story

Good morning everyone. I love the way this weeks affirmations are flowing. Today’s is I am brave & take on new challenges with ease. I’ve said it before, you just can’t fake this stuff!

The more we free ourselves of thoughts, beliefs and anything else holding us back the more receptive, stronger and more confident we become. With the growth of confidence comes the willingness to step out and do things that in the past might have stopped us cold from fear.

If an opportunity comes along today or in the near future that sounds like a wonderful chance, go for it! Now the Mom in me has to say think it through carefully and know what your committing to in terms of time, resources and expected risks and returns.

The important thing is to do it even if it scares you. Life is about taking risks. That is how we learn and grow. It’s also how we collect really good stories to tell later!

Have a fantastic day!

Crystal Thursday – Astrophyllite

Good morning crystal lovers. Today’s article is about a rare Feldspar called Astrophyllite. My original post was back in March of 2018. In my research for my first post I wasn’t able to locate any first find inormation beyond Astrophyllite being found in Norway. This time I found a bit more.

The first find was by a gentleman named Paul Christian Wiebye on Laven Island off the coast of Norway in 1844. Unfortunately the geological community didn’t recognize this find until ten years later when a guy, brace yourself, named Carl Johan August Theodor Sheerer researched Wiebyes find and named it. Aside from Norway other locations where mining is going on are in Russia, Greenland, Canada and Colorado here in the US.

From what I understand Russia currently has the largest available product on the market but still that isn’t a lot because Astrophyllite is hard to find and mine without damage. It forms on the inside of host minerals rather than piggybacking on the outside. Some people have mistaken Nuumite and Astrophyllite for one another. Sure both have gorgeous flashes of color but in the case of today’s crystal topic the color is in the form of blades rather than small pieces of color.

All the samples I’ve personally seen have been dark golden brown to almost black. My research says Astrophyllite can also be found in white, grey, orange and occasionally green. While I adore my palm stone I have yet to find a whole piece. This girl has some shopping to do! The Chakras that Astrophyllite resonate with are the Third Eye and Crown. The Mohs Scale of hardness has it at a 3 – 4.

The energy of this stone is intense and doesn’t play around. This is a manifestation stone that helps transform your life and open you for personal and spiritual growth. When workingwith it be prepared to make huge life changes. It is not uncommon that what is not for you or your highest good, whatever that may be, will fall out of your life. It helps you find your strength, your voice, your true self and your life purpose.

A few of the other qualities Astrophyllite has to offer are:

  • It fills you with so much light that negativity has no place to hide, so it leaves.
  • It releases the hold your past has on you so you can move forward. No one is defined by their past decisions. They are mearly stepping stones to our future and the people we are becoming.
  • It makes us more aware of synchronicities in our lives and what they can mean.
  • Although I have never tried meditating with Astrophyllite for the purpose of astral travel, it is said to be very good for that purpose.
  • It can help you remember, learn from and heal past life issues.
  • Being a Feldspar it helps strengthen psychic abilities.
  • Astrophyllite is said to heal health issues on a cellular issues. In my research I didn’t find any clear indication of this but working with it won’t hurt or intensify any problems so I though I’d mention it.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief look at Astrophyllite. If its qualities resonate with you I encourage you to purchase a piece and work with it. Keep in mind I am not a doctor and sharing healing qualities of this stone or any crystal or mineral is in no way giving medical advice. Working with it can help but if you are ill see your medical practitioner of choice.

Crystal Thursday – Black Moonstone

Good Thursday morning everyone. Welcome back to another Crystal Thursday. Today’s topic, Black Moonstone, was originally posted on my blog February 23, 2018. This beauty is a member of the Feldspar family and is often confused with Labradorite, another member of the family. I found one source when researching that said Black Moonstone was Labradorite. That is not true of course. Yes they are cousins but chemically they are different.

Many articles say the only source for this crystal is Madagascar where Black Moonstone has been found recently. I don’t believe this to be the case. One article stated if you were to buy a piece sourced from anywhere other than Madagascar it would probably be a fake. That statement confused me a bit so I took the question to a geologist friend who owns a marvelous crystal and mineral shop locally. He told me Moonstone, including Black can be found all over the world in countries like Brazil, Australia and India. For black to occur there needs to be Manganese present in the soil in some quantity.

Depending on the quantity of Manganese the color can range from light gray to black with swirling lines of gray, tan and peach. When the light is right pieces can appear silver. Like other colors of Moonstone, the black variety can be found to be translucent or opaque. On the Mohs scale it comes in at 6 to 6.5 and it resonates well with the third eye and Crown Chakra.

I’ve explained before that members of a crystal family share a certain amount qualities as well as having some specific to themselves depending on what makes them unique. It could be and often is the color and what mineral creates it.

As a Family Moonstone share qualities like enhancing intuition, increasing creativity and strengthening the connection to Goddess energy. Moonstone is also known to help you get your life on track.

Black Moonstone is a great choice to work with during the Dark Moon Cycle because it is a stone of beginnings whether it is a new idea for a project, a new relationship, or an overall fresh start. This is the stone that can help you form and set the intentions to make your new beginning a reality. It does this by helping you focus on your life path and break through old outdated thought patterns and belief systems.

A few other qualities this lovely crystal has to share are:

  • It helps you connect to you Guardian angel and guides.
  • Being black it is both very grounding and protective of your energy.
  • It has a nurturing quality that calms and helps relieve stress.
  • It helps heal lady monthly issues like cramping, flow and fertility problems.
  • It helps clear digestive and respiratory issues.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief look at Black Moonstone. If the qualities of this stone resonate with you I encourage you to purchase a piece and work with it. Keep in mind I am not a doctor and sharing healing qualities of this or any crystal or mineral is in no way giving medical advice. Working with it can help but if you are ill see your medical practitioner of choice.

Crystal Thursday – Shiva Lingham

Good morning it is Crystal Thursday once again and we are looking at a crystal I originally posted about back on February 16, 2018. Our topic for today is, Shiva Lingham, a rare and sacred stone only found in the Narmanda River in India. During the dry season people go to the river and carefully pick up the stones and hand polish them according to Vedic Tradition.

The word Lingham is Sanskrit for symbol, so that means the stone is Shiva’s Symbol and they are used in worship. The stones naturally form the interesting phallic/egg shape and have different variations of banding colors of reddish brown, tan and black. There is a story that the Goddess Parvati hand shaped the Lingham from sand to represent both the Divine Male and Female. Each stone is unique in size and banding pattern. So any piece you buy is a one of a kind!

Even though it looks like Jasper, Shiva Lingham are composed mainly of Quartz mixed with other minerals so they are technically crystals. They resonate with all the chakras and help realign them. The Mohs scale for Shiva Lingham is a strong 7 but as this is a sacred stone they are rarely if ever carved.

Let’s get to the fun stuff and look at the metaphysical qualities of Shiva Lingham.

  • They boost energy and strength.
  • Intensifies inner transformation.
  • Helps us break old patterns of behavior so we have space for new ideas and growth.
  • Helps ground you to this lifetime.
  • They activate the kundalini energy.
  • They help you understand that you are unique yet part of a whole.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief look at Shiva Lingham. If the qualities of this stone resonate with you I encourage you to purchase a piece and work with it. Keep in mind I am not a doctor and sharing healing qualities of this stone or any crystal or mineral is in no way giving medical advice. Working with it can help but if you are ill see your medical practitioner of choice.

Weekly Tarot Story – Sunday

Good morning! Welcome to the Weekly Tarot Story. This week I am using a deck created by one of my favorite producers, Denise Linn, and it’s called Native Spirit Oracle. Everyone is drawn to a deck partly because of its artwork, which is lovely in this deck ❤ I really like how Ms. Linn uses nature, animals and elemental themes to tell the story of her cards. It reminds me that we are all one.

With May being just a few days away; our first card for this week’s Tarot Story is Spirit Keeper of the North. The message it seems to be opening before us is that it’s time to slow down a little and give thought to our lives, to where we are compared to where we want to be.

Sure, we’re nearly five months into the year but remember it is Never Too Late to make the changes necessary to improve our lives. Take some time to think about the future you want. You know the one. It’s the one where you’re thriving, living your best dream instead of someone else’s.

The only thing we need is to commit to ourselves and to do the work. This means forgiving ourselves for the times we fell short, letting go of beliefs that aren’t ours and people who don’t believe or support us. Maybe it’s time to pack our bags and move from wouldn’t it be nice street to I believe and watch me make it happen boulevard!

Have an awesome day!

Crystal Thursday – Larimar

Good morning it’s Thursday and that means Crystal Thursday! This week we’re looking at a rare mineral found only in the Dominican Republic, Larimar. This is from the family of minerals called Pectolite. A sodium calcium based mineral that is quite common around the world but not necessarily as a gem stone. It does seem to be one that collectors seek out though.

The story of discovery of Larimar is kind of interesting in that it has two discovery dates. The first was back in 1916 by a priest who submitted papers for permission to mine but apparently that permission was either never given or was never followed up on. So it wasn’t until 1974 that a Peace Corp worker named Norman Rilling and Miguel Mendez of the Dominican Republic found some Larimar while walking on the beach. They traced the source and got permission to mine. At first it was named Travelina but was later changed for Mr. Mendez’s daughter Larissa and the Spanish word for sea, which is Mar. Larimar!

There are a couple different names it may be marketed as, although I don’t know why but they are Dolphin Stone and Atlantis Stone. The beautiful turquoisey pale blue of Larimar comes from copper getting into the mix when the mineral was forming. Another distinctive feature is the wavy white lines. They remind me of standing in the shallows of the sea of some lovely tropical beach and watching the light dance on the waves.

One thing to watch out for is Larimar is a stone that is faked. Some sellers are up front about it not being real but others aren’t or don’t know the product well enough to recognize a fake. If you are looking at a gem called Larimar Quartz, it’s not real Larimar. The cost may also warn you of a possible fake. Good quality Larimar can go for up to $20 or more a gram. Mid or low grade Larimar will be more affordable of course but if you’re looking to buy a nice piece of jewelry, you want to know it’s real.

This would be a great stone to meditate with. Sit while holding a piece of Larimar and let it take you on a relaxing mini vacation to the Caribbean. You come back rested and de-stressed just missing the tan. Of course you could meditate outside and the tan part would be taken care of!

Larimar is not a terribly hard stone. On the Mohs scale it comes in at 4.5 to 5 and it resonates beautifully with the Throat and 3rd Eye Chakras.

Now let’s get to the fun stuff, the metaphysical characteristics that Larimar has to offer.

  • Larimar is a stone that encourages calm, peace and serenity. It will help relieve stress, fear, and calm tempers.
  • When used under the right conditions it can help resolve trauma issues.
  • It helps overcome negative self talk that can turn into self sabotage.
  • It gives you the courage to speak your truth.
  • It can help heal on all levels, physical, emotional spiritual and mental.
  • It can help increase communication skills.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief look at Larimar. If the qualities of this stone resonate with you I encourage you to purchase a piece and work with it. Keep in mind I am not a doctor and sharing the healing qualities of this or any crystal or mineral is in no way giving medical advice. Working with it can help but if you are ill see your medical practitioner of choice.

Chakra and Angel Friday – Metatron

Good morning everyone, welcome back to Chakra and Angel Friday. This week we’re taking a look at Archangel Metatron. The story of Metatron is an interesting one which begins with Enoch, a pre-flood prophet of God. He was the son of Jared and father of Methuselah in the line of Seth, seven generations out from Adam and Eve.

Fun Fact

Adam was 622 years old when Enoch was born.

Pre-flood people lived much longer than we do. Several hundred years, in fact the Bible says Methuselah lived to be 960. There are several theories as to why people lived longer. It could be the climate of Earth was changed dramatically, maybe post flood peoples diets changed. To my knowledge sacred texts don’t answer this question of why, so we’ll have to wait and find out.

Did Enoch and Adam know each other? Yes they probably did; in my research I found a text that spoke about Adam blessing Enoch and making him a priest of Melchizedek. From what I can tell Adam actually outlived Enoch by several hundred years.

Now Back to Metatron

The Angelic Realm is an entirely different, much earlier, level of creation than humans. People do not go home to Heaven and become an angel. That is not how the Divine created it. There were two exceptions made by the Godhead and Enoch is the first of those two humans to be taken alive to into the seventh level of Heaven when he was 365 years old, given wings and transformed into an Archangel.

As an Archangel the meaning of Metatron is a little unclear. Being a human his angelic name doesn’t end in the traditional “el” designating a being of God even though we were created in his image. I found a few different possibilities for the meaning of his name such as Youth, The Lesser Yahweh, Twin, Highest Angel, and One Who Occupies the Throne Next to the Divine.

He is acknowledged by Islam, and some Christian faith traditions. The Jewish tradition doesn’t outwardly recognize Metatron but he is mentioned a few times in the Talmud and is associated with the Kabbalah. As always various faiths mean spelling differences and we have a couple for Metatron. They are Metatetron, Merraton, Metaraon, Mitatrun and Mittron.

Since he was a man who lived and experienced a lifetime here Metatron presents as male. He is said to be strong, focused and direct but very understanding because he knows the struggles we humans go through. The colors he wears are violet and green. The Angelic Choir he is associated with is the Seraphim. This makes since as he is always in the presence of the Divine carrying out his will. The crystal most associated with him is Watermelon Tourmaline.

Metatron is the angel of thought and empowerment, partly due to his job while on Earth. Enoch, being an educated man knew how to read and write so he offered his services as a scribe. In Biblical times scribes worked as teachers, copying manuscripts, and record keepers. When taken to heaven those skills were utilized for the Divine. He is said to be the keeper of the Akashic Records.

This is the long way around to explaining being the Angel of thought and empowerment. But within these records is every thought we think, every action we take. Whether good, bad or indifferent Metatron sees and records it. He knows the power of though and what it can bring to our lives so he acts as a mediator between us and the Divine to help replace negative thoughts with positive ones; to remember who we are and the power we have within the Divine then to use that power for the good of all.

Let’s take a look at some of the other things Metatron assists with:

  • He helps people stay on track with their life purpose.
  • He helps people deal with stress by guiding them to stay balanced and grounded.
  • He helps people to identify and develop their skills.
  • He helps people in the process of starting new projects.
  • He works with the flow of energy in the universe to and from the Divine.
  • He helps people understand the Divines perspective.
  • He helps people learn how to work with the angelic realm.
  • He helps motivate people and overcome procrastination.
  • He works with sensitive children/people to cope with the experience of being in this lifetime.
  • He works with gifted people in whatever area their gift is, music, writing, art, healing or a spiritual gift to help them develop and use that gift for the betterment of all.

There is more I could tell you but I will call it here. I haven’t even touched on Metatrons Cube! It’s absolutely fascinating so that will be the subject for another day. I hope you’ve enjoyed this look at Archangel Metatron, and that it helps you understand how he helps enrich our lives. Have a great week and come back for the next Chakra and Angel Friday post where I will be talking about the Third Eye Chakra.

Have a fabulous day!

Crystal Thursday – Prehnite

Good morning welcome to Crystal Thursday. Today’s topic was first posted in November of 2017 and is Prehnite. This mineral was first found in the 18th century by a Mineralogist named Hendrik von Prehn.  Born in South Africa he spent many years serving in the military after which he returned to his home in the Cape of Good Hope colony, eventually becoming Governor. During his time in South Africa before moving his family to Europe he discovered the mineral that would eventually be named for him in 1788. This was said to be the first mineral to be found in South Africa and the first to named for the person who found it.

Prehnite, as I mentioned was first found in South Africa and for a long time was considered a rare mineral. It still is but not to the extent that it was previously. It has been found in France, Australia, India and the US as well. Most people know this mineral by its translucent to opaque pale green color but from what I’ve found in my research it’s also found in pink, blue and clear. Then in April of 2000 a new color was found in South Africa, and that was orange. I myself have only seen green so I’ve got some looking to do!

I’ve said Prehnite is fairly rare and that makes it more expensive. Beyond that its clarity also adds to the cost. The most valuable form of Prehnite is clear green. The other is included with Epidote and/or Black Tourmaline. The sample I have has tourmaline inclusions. I think inclusions can make a crystal or mineral more interesting because the energy of the included mineral adds to the whole. That’s not to say if I were to find a nice clear piece of Prehnite I wouldn’t buy it because, you know me and I absolutely would!

Most sources say Prehnite resonates with the Solar Plexus and Heart Chakras, but I think it also works well with the Third Eye to enhance psychic ability and help lucid dream. On the Mohs scale it comes in at 6 – 6.5.

Prehnite is considered a stone of transformation. Its energy is very soothing helping to calm stress and encourage inner peace. Let’s get to the good stuff and take a look at some of the other qualities Prehnite has to offer.

  • It opens a feeling of unconditional love for all life.
  • It’s said to help stop nightmares.
  • It helps increase focus.
  • It helps detox the kidney and lymph systems.
  • It is said to repair connective tissue.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief look at Prehnite. If the qualities of this stone resonate with you I encourage you to purchase a piece and work with it. Keep in mind I am not a doctor and sharing the healing qualities of this stone is in no way giving medical advice. Working with it can help but if you are ill see your medical practitioner of choice.

Crystal Thursday – Ammonite

Good morning everyone, welcome to Crystal Thursday. This week we are talking about an ancient mollusk called Ammonite. The original post was back on October 21, 2017. This was the younger sibling to the Nautilus. Unfortunately it didn’t survive the event which took out the dinosaurs and became extinct around 65 million years ago. The older sibling, Nautilus, did and approximately ten species can be found in the oceans today. Ammonite was named for the Ethiopian God Ammon who had spiral ram horns. In time knowledge of Ammon spread to the Egyptians (Amun) and Greeks (Jupiter) who adopted this God into their pantheons.

Ammonites first began to appear somewhere between the Devonian and the Jurassic period. At that time there was a whole lot more open water on Earth because the land masses were closer together. For this reason they are fairly common and can be found all over where sedimentary material can be found. These fossils unfortunately aren’t very durable; on the Mohs scale they are a 3.5 to 4 so care must be taken with them. They are naturally brown to grey; the iridescent colors we love don’t come out until the fossils are polished. Being so ancient Ammonites hold a great deal of earth energy and resonate with both the root and third eye chakras.

The spiral formation of Ammonite speaks to its capabilities for assisting us in our lives. They are all about increasing energy, growth, and moving forward. Let’s get to the good stuff now and take a look at a couple of the metaphysical properties of Ammonite.

  • They are said to attract good health, success and prosperity.
  • They are said to be powerful healers helping to improve blood pressure, ear and lung issues as well as improving degenerative disorders.
  • They are said to remove negativity and help overcome depression.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief look at the fossil Ammonite. If its qualities resonate with you I encourage you to purchase a piece and work with it. Keep in mind I am not a doctor and sharing the healing qualities is in no way giving medical advice. Working with it can help but if you are ill see your medical practitioner of choice.
